ALKIA is a nonprofit organization developing Open Information Ecosystems that bring together people, organizations and Artificial Intelligence to address environmental and societal challenges through knowledge, collaboration and innovation.
Our first mission focuses on one of the Mediterranean's most urgent environmental issues: the rapid spread of invasive marine species.
They require people willing to collaborate, knowledge that can be shared and tools that help transform information into better decisions.
This is why ALKIA exists.
We develop collaborative ecosystems where researchers, professional fishers, public authorities, businesses, volunteers and local communities work together to better understand complex challenges, design practical solutions and create lasting positive impact.
Technology plays an important role in this process, but it is never the purpose. People remain at the centre of everything we build.
Because meaningful change begins when people choose to work together.
Environmental challenges are complex. Their solutions must be collaborative. We connect scientific knowledge, field observations, digital technologies and human experience into a shared environment where information becomes actionable knowledge.

Climate change, rising sea temperatures and human activities are accelerating the spread of invasive marine species — placing growing pressure on biodiversity, fisheries and coastal communities.
Species such as the silver-cheeked toadfish (Lagocephalus sceleratus) and the lionfish (Pterois miles) are already causing substantial ecological and socio-economic impacts across the Eastern Mediterranean.
Explore the ChallengeAn Open Information Ecosystem that connects people, organizations and AI in a shared collaborative environment.
Interconnected networks of fishers, researchers, authorities, businesses and volunteers turning knowledge into action.
Reliable, transparent and continuously evolving knowledge — the foundation of responsible action.
It is also an economic, social and cultural necessity. Healthy marine ecosystems support biodiversity, fisheries, tourism, food security and the wellbeing of millions.
Every improvement in collaboration, knowledge sharing and coordinated action contributes to more resilient coastal communities and more sustainable use of marine resources.
